My Journey as a Storyteller

With over 27 years in journalism, I’ve spent my life listening to stories that matter — stories of people, purpose, resilience, and change. Storytelling has always been more than a profession for me; it’s how I understand the world and give voice to experiences that deserve to be remembered.

I am the Co-Founder and Managing Editor of The Mind Diaries, India’s first bi-monthly magazine dedicated to mental health and well-being. Through this platform, I work closely with individuals, organisations, NGOs, and institutions to shape meaningful narratives around emotional health, social impact, and human connection.

As an author, I have written six books across genres. My recent works include The India Drive (Volumes 8 and 9) with the Outlook Group — coffee table books that document CSR stories and grassroots impact across India — and Uttarakhand Cuisine: Food and Folktales from the Hills (Om Books International), where culture, memory, and storytelling come together. Earlier, I authored I Did It! Exceptional Stories of People Who Made It Large (Volumes 1 & 2), published by Times Group Books, with the first volume launched by Ruskin Bond.

Alongside my books, I work with leaders, founders, families, institutions, and brands to help them write biographies, memoirs, coffee table books, corporate narratives, magazines, and ghostwritten projects. Whether you’re looking to preserve a legacy, document impact, or articulate your voice with clarity and depth, I help transform lived experiences into stories that are honest, thoughtful, and lasting.

In 2018, I was awarded the OneWorld–Dream A Dream Journalism Scholarship, a recognition that reaffirmed my belief in writing that creates awareness, empathy, and meaningful change.

What People Say About the Stories We’ve Built Together

Every writer leaves a signature. Mine is invisible — it lives in how you feel when the story is done. Here are a few voices from the journeys I’ve had the honour to be part of

Dr Pushpesh Pant

Indian academic and food critic and historian

“Prachi has gifted us not just a cook book but a gripping introduction the lands and the people of Uttarakhand providing insightful glimpses to their lives.”

Ganesh Saili

Author and photographer

“Here is Prachi Raturi’s mouth-watering medley of memories and flavours she grew up with. I’m delighted this book on Uttarakhand flavours and folk tales was written. It evokes nostalgia or Khud as we pahadis call it for a world gone by. Prachi has culled for this book some of the better-known recipes and folklores from her home in the hills. Some from her personal repertoire, some rare ones based on exhaustive test and research. A must for every cook, beginner or gourmet.”

Stephen Alter

Author

The inspirational tales that she has compiled in I Did It! -- Exceptional Stories of People who Made it Large, reveal how anyone can succeed as long as they have passion, focus and discipline. This book will motivate everyone to follow their dreams."

Vidur Kapur

Head of You Tube Executive Recruiting (Google)

I worked with Prachi when I was touring internationally and working as a stand-up comedian in 2007- 2012 and found her to be a great journalist and a pleasure to work with. She interviewed me for a cover article for the Brunch section of Hindustan Times. Prachi is great at what she does and very professional.

Mimmy Jain

Author and Copy Editor

I first met Prachi when I hired her as Feature Writer at The Financial Express in 2000. She impressed the team immediately with her cheery, affable nature and engaging ways. Plus, she was willing to work hard – and learn. No task we gave her was too much for her. She was willing to ask questions and take advice. During my years with her at FE, I saw her grow from a rookie to a skilled feature writer who successfully handled a page on her own. Prachi is a people’s person and gets on well with everybody. She is a team player and pulls her weight in every situation. Over the last two decades, I’ve watched Prachi grow both professionally and personally. She has become a mature journalist with great writing skills. She has imaginative ideas and the courage to chase them to fruition. The book projects she has been involved in are truly impressive.

Kalpan Desai

CHRO – WTF

I highly recommend Prachi for her exceptional expertise in journalism and writing. Her keen eye for detail, strong storytelling abilities, and dedication to journalistic integrity have consistently resulted in compelling and impactful content. Prachi's exceptional research skills, versatility in writing across various genres, and ability to meet deadlines make her an invaluable asset. It was a pleasure collaborating with Prachi, and I have no doubt that her passion for writing and commitment to excellence will continue to shine in all her future endeavours.

Dr Abha Azad

Communication Strategy Specialist: Partner at Finese PR

Prachi is one of the most versatile writers that I have ever come across. Her features, in diverse subjects, weave stories that are amazingly lucid and leaves one asking for more. I've professionally interacted with her for over a decade now and have been always impressed with her work.

Arundati Seigell

Head of Communications, Escorts Limited

A petite journalist with a bold mind was my first impression of Prachi in 2008. She wrote a feature on our managing director, as a business journalist, which had a significant positive perception shift in the industry. Prachi has a unique skill of extracting nuances in conversations and writing pieces that go beyond numbers and business. She has a knack of culling out the human side of business leaders. Her journey as an author has been no surprise to me. She always leaves the readers with some food for thought and ideas to ponder. She is creative, persistent and driven. It has been a pleasure to know her and work with her. If you have a story to tell, Prachi is the one to weave it super creatively for you.
